Using the Work Responsibly

Imaginaries of Freedom exists to share powerful, real-world stories — while protecting the people who create them.
Every image on this platform is shared with care. That means respecting authorship, preserving context, and ensuring photographers are fairly supported.

Building a World where Photography Protects its Makers

Our approach is simple: the photographers retain full ownership of their work — always. This framework exists to protect authorship, preserve context, and prevent the extractive circulation of documentary imagery.

Full Copyright Retained

Photographers keep full ownership of their work at all times.

Non-Exclusive Licensing

Images can be shared through IoF without limiting future opportunities.

Right to Withdraw

Work can be removed if circumstances or safety concerns change.

Direct revenue to photographers

All sales go directly to the photographers.

Why This Matters

Imaginaries of Freedom exists to create visibility — not extraction. By hosting exhibitions, purchasing work, or licensing images, you’re directly supporting the photographers and helping these stories reach wider audiences, in the way they were intended to be seen.
